On Sunday around 12:15 pm, a police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) fired a gun at Naba Kishore Das, the minister of health and family welfare for the state of Odisha.
The minister was struck by gunshots as he was getting out of his car on the left side. He quickly passed out in his car seat.
Minor injuries were sustained by a police inspector and a young man who were both near the minister.

According to Bhoi, an investigation has been started to determine what motivated the ASI to start firing.
In the footage that PTI has access to, Das is shown bleeding from the chest as people attempt to raise the hurt minister and put him in the front seat of a car while he appears to be unconscious.
He was initially transferred to the Jharsuguda district administrative hospital, according to the SDPO.
Then, according to him, plans were made to transfer him to a hospital in Bhubaneswar for “better treatment.”
Following the event, the community was tense as supporters of Das questioned “security breaches.” Some of them asserted that he was the target of a plot.
Bhoi stated that the ASI was currently being questioned and that additional information would be made available following a thorough inquiry.
What Happened to Naba Das?
The police opened fire on the Minister as he exited his vehicle at Gandhi Chhak, and Mr. Das immediately collapsed to the ground.
His friends and supporters hurried him to the hospital at the Jharsuguda District Office.
He was transported to Bhubaneswar for more treatment since his health continued to be in severe condition.
According to Jharsuguda Sub-divisional Police Officer Gupteswar Bhoi, the Minister was shot at by ASI Das, and two other people were also hurt in the event.
Police officers who are accused are being questioned. Senior police officers reported that after shooting at the Minister, the attacker did not flee the scene.
The incident is thought to have been motivated by a personal grudge.
