R. Kelly, born Robert Kelly, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who rose to fame in the 1990s. In recent years, he has faced numerous allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse, including charges of child pornography, and running a sex cult.

First and foremost, R. Kelly is a multi-Grammy award-winning artist. Kelly  won his first Grammy Award in 1997 for “Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals” for his hit single “I Believe I Can Fly.” This song remains one of his most well-known and beloved tracks to this day. Kelly has since won two more Grammy Awards, further solidifying his status as a talented and respected musician.

Another significant achievement for R. Kelly is his commercial success. Kelly has sold over 40 million records worldwide and has been awarded numerous platinum certifications for his albums and singles. Kelly produced several hit songs that have become staples in popular culture, including “Bump N’ Grind,” “Ignition (Remix),” and “I’m a Flirt.”

In 2019, he was arrested and charged with multiple federal counts of racketeering, kidnapping, forced labor, and sexual exploitation of minors. Kelly has denied all allegations against him and is currently awaiting trial. These legal troubles and allegations have been some of the low points in R. Kelly’s career.

The RNB singer currently appears to have had sexual abuse cases in Cook County dropped. His sister revealed there was a positive after the humiliation his brother has gotten over the years.

Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
