Chelsea Submit New Big Offer For Benfica Star Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea have submitted a new big offer in a desperate attempt to sign World Cup winner and Benfica Star Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues are still insisting on landing the highly-rated Benfica star despite having previous bids for the player rejected by Benfica.

The Portuguese outfit have slammed an overbloated price tag on the Argentina international as they doubled down on their stance to keep the player amid interest from the London club.

Despite the hiccups and the opposition by Benfica, Chelsea, who have already spent £405million in the transfer market under Todd Boehly, are still hopeful of completing a deal for the 21-year-old before the transfer window closes.

Enzo Fernandez World Cup heroics brought him into the spotlights of European clubs. He won the Young Player of the Tournament in the 2022 World Cup, starting all games, and helping Argentina win their first World Cup trophy since 1986.

He still has a contract with the Primeira Liga giants, and has been instrumental to their Champions League and Primeira Liga run this season.

After the Brazilian star impressed in the 2022 World Cup, catching the attention and interests of big clubs in Europe, Benfica placed an overbloated £106million price tag on him to deter potential suitors.

Chelsea opted for an instalmental payment plan, but the club insisted on full payment and later conceded, but ask the Blues for a hefty sum as forward payment.

Talks between the two clubs was stalled temporarily following the faceoff, but Chelsea have now awaken interest in the highly-rated midfielder and are hoping to seal a deal before the transfer window closes.

According to football.london, Chelsea have submitted a new bigger offer to Benfica in their attempts to sign the player.

They have made another bid in the region of €100m (£87.8m), including swap deals to push through a deal for the 2022 World Cup best young talent.

Meanwhile, Benfica are yet to respond to this new move by the London club with the transfer window winding down, and manager Roger Schmidt have reiterated Enzo Fernandez is not for sale.

Before previous talks between Chelsea and Benfica broke down, Enzo Fernandez reportedly pushed for Chelsea exit.

Thr 21-year-old earned the fury of Benfica fans and the manager after he defied the club and flew to Argentina for a short new year break.

His antics was linked to Chelsea’s interest, and his desire to join the Premier League club despite Benfica’s intent to keep him.

So far in this summer, Chelsea have spent a whooping £405m on new signings under new owner Todd Boehly.

Some of the club’s signings this month include Mykhaylo Mudryk, Joao Felix, Noni Madueke, Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos.
