AFLW Brisbane Lions star Jesse Wardlaw trains with Women’s Premiership squads

AFLW Season 7 Golden Boot winner Jesse Wardlaw joined our Auckland based women’s premiership training last night. The 23 year old Brisbane Lions star is in New Zealand over the summer visiting family and joined the training group as they prepare for the women’s premiership which is kicking off on February 26th.

Jesse is New Zealand born, moving to Australia at the age of 3. She played many sports growing up, including Basketball, Netball and Touch Rugby, before playing AFL. Making her debut for the Lions in 2019, Jesse has developed her game to become one of the best tall forwards in AFLW, taking out the Leading Goal Kicker Award for Season 7 with a competition record 22 goals, with a goal kicking accuracy of 66.7%.

Joining in on the training session, Jesse shared some of her experience and some tips which will prove valuable as players continue to work towards the opening game of premiership.
